JACKFRUIT PAYASAM RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

Sabbakki - 1/2 cup
Water - 2 cups
Deseeded jackfruit - 25 nos
Jaggey  - 1 cup
Water - 1 cup
Thick coconut milk - 2 cups
Crushed elaichis - 2 nos
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Cashewnuts - 10 nos
Raisins - 10 nos
Chopped coconut - 1/4 cup

Cooking time : 30 minutes

Method:

1. Add sabbaki in a bowl, wash it well, add water and soak for 8 hours.

2. Deseed jackfriuts and chop it into small pieces.

3. Add water in a sauce pan and bring it to a boil.

4. Add soaked sabakki and cook for 10 minutes until it turns soft.

5. Add chopped jackfruit and mix well.

6. Add jaggery in a pan, add water, stir well without any lumps and strain it in a bowl.

7. Add the jaggery syrup in the payasam, stir well and let it boil for 10 minutes.

8. Add coconut milk, turn off the flame and set it aside.

9. Heat ghee in a pan, add chopped coconut and saute until it turns golden brown in color.

10. Add cashewnuts and fry until it turns golden brown in color.

11. Add raisins, fry until it pops up, add fried nuts in the payasam, add crushed elaichis, mix well and            serve.


Add 1/2 cup of sabbaki in a bowl

Wash it well

Add water and soak for 8 hours

Drain the water

Take desseded jackfruit

Chop it into small pieces

Add 2 cups of water in a sauce pan
and bring it to a boil

Add soaked sabakki

Cook for 10 minutes in medium flame

Add chopped jackfruit

Mix well

Add 1 cup of jaggery in a pan

Add 1 cup of water

Stir well

Stir well without any lumps

Strain the jaggery syrup in a bowl

Add jaggery syrup 

Stir well

Boil for 10 minutes in medium flame

Add 2 cups of thick coconut milk

Stir well and turn off the flame

Set it aside

Heat 2 tbsp of ghee in a pan

Add 1/4 cup of chopped coconut

Saute until it turns golden brown in color

Add cashewnuts

Add raisins

Fry cashewnuts until it turns golden brown in
color and the raisins pops up

Add fried cashewnut and raisins in the payasam

Add 2 crushed elaihis

Stir well

Serve hot
