ONION PAKODA RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
Sliced onion - 5 nos [Large] Salt - 1 tsp (As required) Finely chopped green chili - 5 nos Finely chopped ginger - 2 tsp Crushed coriander seeds - 1 tsp Ajwain / omam - 1/2 tsp Chili powder - 1 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp Hing / perungaayam - 1/4 tsp Finely chopped curry leaves - 2 strings Water - 3 tbsp Curry leaves for garnishing Rice flour - 1/2 cup Gram flour - 1cup Oil for deep frying
Preparation time : 15 minutes Cooking time : 30 minutes No of servings : 5 members Cuisine : Indian Coarse : Snacks
Method :
1) Add sliced onion in a bowl, add salt and mix until the onion produces water.
2) Rest for 10 minutes and add chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander seeds, ajwain, chopped ginger, chopped green chili, curry leaves, asafoetida powder and mix well for 2 minutes.
3) Add rice flour, gram flour and mix well without adding water.
4) The batter has to be thick in consistency.
5) Heat oil in a kadai and drop the onion mixture into small portions.
6) Fry for 1 minute in medium flame in intervals and fry until the bubble reduces.
7) Fry the pakoda in a nice golden brown in color, drain the pakoda from the oil and serve hot. |
