ONION PAKODA RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

Sliced onion - 5 nos [Large]
Salt - 1 tsp (As required)
Finely chopped green chili - 5 nos
Finely chopped ginger - 2 tsp
Crushed coriander seeds - 1 tsp
Ajwain / omam - 1/2 tsp
Chili powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Hing / perungaayam - 1/4 tsp
Finely chopped curry leaves - 2 strings
Water - 3 tbsp
Curry leaves for garnishing
Rice flour - 1/2 cup
Gram flour - 1cup
Oil for deep frying

Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time : 30 minutes

Method :

1) Add sliced onion in a bowl, add salt and mix until the onion produces water.

2) Rest for 10 minutes and add chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander seeds, ajwain, chopped ginger, chopped green chili, curry leaves, asafoetida powder and mix well for 2 minutes.

3) Add rice flour, gram flour and mix well without adding water.

4) The batter has to be thick in consistency.

5) Heat oil in a kadai and drop the onion mixture into small portions.

6) Fry for 1 minute in medium flame in intervals and fry until the bubble reduces.

7) Fry the pakoda in a nice golden brown in color, drain the pakoda from the oil and serve hot.

Take all the ingredients

Add sliced onion in a bowl

Add 1 tsp of salt

Mix well with the hand until the onion
 produces water

Rest for 10 minutes

Add 1 tsp of chili powder

Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder

Add 1 tsp of crushed coriander seeds

Add 1/2 of ajwain 

Add finely chopped ginger 2 tsp

Add 5 nos of finely chopped green chili 

Add finely chopped curry leaves

Add 1/4 of asafoetida powder

Mix well for 2 minutes

Add 1/2 cup of rice flour

Add 1 cup of gram flour

Mix well without adding water

Add 2-3 tbsp of water if required 

The batter has to be thick in consistency

Heat oil in a kadai, drop the onion mixture into
small portions

Fry for 1 minute in medium flame in
interval and fry until the bubble reduces.

Fry it in a nice golden brown in color

Drain the pakoda from the oil

Fry the remaining batch in the same way

Drain the excess oil

Place the fried pakoda in a bowl

Fry some curry leaves

Add the curry leaves onto the pakoda

Serve hot with coffee.
