VEN PONGAL RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
Raw rice - 1 cup Yellow moong dal/pasi paruppu - 1/2 cup Water - 5 cups Slit green chili - 3 nos Salt - 2 tsp [as required]
FOR TEMPERING
Oil - 2 tbsp Ghee - 1 tbsp+1 tsp Pepper corns - 2 tsp Cumin seeds/jeeragam - 2 tsp Grated ginger - 1 tbsp Cashew nuts - 10 nos Asafoetida/hing/perungayam - 2 pinches
Preparation time : 10 minutes Cooking time :30 minutes No of serving : 4 members Cuisine : Indian Coarse : Breakfast
Method :
1. Dry roast the rice and moong dal.
2.Place it to a pressure cooker rinse it 3-4 times and then add 5 cup of water.
3.Add green chili and salt bring it to a boil, pressure cook for 3 whistles.
4.Mix and slightly mash the cooked rice and dal, Set them aside.
5.Heat oil and ghee in a pan add pepper corns, cumin seeds, cashew nuts, ginger, asafoetida and curry leaves then fry.
6.Add all the fried ingredients in the pongal ,finally add a little ghee mix and serve.
