RAVA KICHIDI RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
Rava / semolina / suji - 1 1/2 cup Mustard seeds / kadugu- 1 tsp Gram dal / kadalai paruppu - 1 tsp Urad dal / ullutham paruppu - 1 tsp Slit green chili - 5 nos Grated ginger - 2 tsp Curry leaves - few Chopped tomato - 1 no Chopped onion - 1 no [large] Salt - 2 tsp [as required] Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp Chopped carrot - 1/2 cup Green peas - 1/2 cup Chopped beans - 10 nos Chopped coriander leaves- 1/2 cup Oil - 3 tbsp Ghee - 2 tsp Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp Cashewnuts - 10 nos Water - 4 cups
Preparation time : 15 minutes Cooking time : 30 minutes No of servings : 4 members Cuisine : Indian Coarse : Breakfast
Method :
1. Heat oil in pan, add mustard seeds, after the mustard seeds crackle add channa dal, urad dal and cashew nuts and fry them till they turn into a golden brown in colour.
2. Then, add grated ginger, curry leaves, slit green chili and saute for few seconds.
3. Add chopped onions, saute for few minutes add chopped tomatoes and saute well.
4. Add turmeric powder, saute well till the raw smell leaves.
5.Add chopped carrot, beans and green peas. Mix well and add salt, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
6. Add water and bring to a boil, Once the vegetables are well cooked, check the salt and then add the rava.
7. Stir constantly while adding rava without forming any lumps.
8. Once it absorbs all the water, the kichidi is almost done and then add lime juice, garam masala coriander leaves and mix well.
9. Finally add some ghee, mix well and serve.
